30.april 2006:

J.W: I was having a hard time finding a good bio on you guys on the web, so maybe you could be bothered to give a brief couple of lines about your background?

D!D!D!: I met Mikey (the drummer) in high school and we started making horrible terrible noise music for years in Dunedin when our first band broke up we moved to Auckland and leave our little hometown in the south island of New Zealand........a few months later we met Henry on Krd ( a street in Auckland with cafes and music stores etc) He was bored with nothing to do and so were Mikey and myself so we decided to form a band and the rest is history.

J.W: You've had an amazing year, and by the looks of it the next won't be any less hectic or spectacular; how did it all come about? How did you pull it off?

D!D!D!: Well we were so bored in Auckland when we formed the band we decided right away we needed to play as much as possible and try and play to as many people as possible.....so any sorta lead for us to play somewhere outside of our comfort zone we would take it. We have been very lucky with getting some particular people to see us who managed to get us on some amazing shows which pay quite well so we could almost finance touring overseas......New Zealand is very very isolated in the world.....

J.W: Could you point to any highlights from the past year? Ups/downs, are you any wiser?

D!D!D!: Way to many ups and way to many downs to list haha.........I feel i have grown up more in the last year and half than i had in my entire life before that hahaha.

J.W: I'd imagine that going from playing mostly smaller clubvenues to suddenly sharing the main stage of Big Day Out with WS and FF must feel pretty surreal, how did that transition make you feel?

D!D!D!: haha............well i mean it is still just a show and sometimes playing house parties and small shows give off a much better vibe than big shows............i mean after BDO we played like a free show in Auckland and that was 100times better than the Big day out. Haha

J.W: How did you get in contact with Steve Albini?

D!D!D!: Our friends HDU

J.W: How was it to record the album with him?

D!D!D!: amazing. yeah.

J.W: Do you get the time to write and rehearse new material while on the road? If yes, how would you describe it compared to the stuff you've already recorded?

D!D!D!: We dont get enough opportunities to write music touring so much.....our new music is a little different to our old album. haha the songs are longer........

J.W: What are your plans for the next year? What can we expect?

D!D!D!: haha we wanna tour Norway LOTS! haha i think we are going to record our Next record with Guy from Fugazi or Steve again i can imagine we will be touring alot.............but also we are probably going to be based in New york which is very different from Little new zealand. haha

J.W: How would you describe the music scene in NZ/Australia? Any bands you'd like to shed some light on for us in the dark north to check out?

D!D!D!: The music scene in NZ is totally pretty much dead.........australia used to be really amazing but sorta has died recently....i really like: operation rolling thunder, HDU, french horns, Kill surf city and cat! cat! cat!
